At the southern edge of Lazienki Krolewskie - once the royal hunting ground, the Zwierzyniec - two 1820s buildings hold a museum the institution calls unique in Poland and rare in Europe: the Museum of Hunting and Horsemanship, founded on 1 July 1983 and a branch of the Lazienki museum since 1 January 2018.
Two buildings, one collection
The Kantonists' Barracks (1826-28) - probably designed by Wilhelm Henryk Minter - host the permanent exhibitions: a 19th-20th-century Polish hunting salon, forest animals, birds and exotic trophies. The Kubicki Stables (1825-26), laid out by Jakub Kubicki on a horseshoe plan and renovated in 2019-2021, hold the Zbigniew Prus-Niewiadomski Coach House and the Royal Weaving Manufacture. The museum puts its collection at more than 10,000 exhibits.
Visiting
Both buildings close on Mondays; seasonal hours vary (roughly 9:00 or 10:00 opening, closing between 16:00 and 20:00 depending on day and season - check the museum's page). Last entry is 30 minutes before closing. Fridays are free for individual visitors.
Tickets: 30 zloty normal, 15 zloty reduced; children over 7 and students up to 26 pay 1 zloty. Allow about 40 minutes. Combine it with the rest of the park - see our Lazienki park guide.
