Warsaw's second metro line runs a shortened route for a week. From the night of Friday 16 to Saturday 17 October until the night of Sunday 25 to Monday 26 October 2026, M2 trains run only between Bródno and Księcia Janusza, the city announced on 12 October. The Bemowo and Ulrychów stations are closed to passengers for the duration.
Why the closure
The works connect the newly built Bemowo section of line M2 to the existing track. The new stretch is being tied into the track layout and third-rail power supply, followed by changes to train-control devices and tests of the remaining systems, including automatic speed restriction. Test trains already run on the new section, and these connection tests are one of the key steps before the new stations can open and pass technical acceptance.
Replacement transport
Buses 149, 177, 714, 719, 729 and 743 run extended routes to stops by Księcia Janusza station: alighting at Księcia Janusza 01 and boarding towards Bemowo at Księcia Janusza 08. Line 184 gets extra runs between Nowe Bemowo 12 and Metro Księcia Janusza, line 249 runs more often than usual, and articulated buses serve line 149. At night, extra N43 runs link Osiedle Górczewska with Metro Księcia Janusza.
Three new stations coming
The Bemowo works complete the western end of Warsaw's second metro line. Three stations will open to passengers: Lazurowa near the Górczewska and Lazurowa junction, Chrzanów at Rayskiego and Szeligowska, and Karolin near Połczyńska and Sochaczewska, with depot tracks beyond towards the Mory technical station. The city says the opening is coming soon, without giving a date yet. The project, worth about 3 billion PLN including new trains, is co-funded by the European Union with 1.125 billion PLN from the Cohesion Fund.
