The Warsaw Metro is the fastest way across the capital, and it is still growing. Metro Warszawskie, the city-owned operator, runs two lines that cross in the centre of town.

Line M1: north to south

The older line, M1, runs from Mlociny in the north to Kabaty in the south, serving 21 stations. Along the way it stops in the city centre, including Swietokrzyska, Centrum and Pola Mokotowskie, linking the northern districts with the southern residential areas.

Line M2: east to west

Line M2 runs east-west with 18 stations, from Bemowo in the west to Brodno in the east. It crosses the Vistula and serves Praga, and it meets M1 at Swietokrzyska, the system interchange station.

Timetables and service changes

The current metro timetables have been valid since 1 September 2026, according to Metro Warszawskie. During October 2026, M2 is running a shortened route - we explain the details in our guide to the M2 shortened route.
