Warsaw's public transport is run under the ZTM brand and is the easiest way to move around the city: two metro lines, one of Europe's largest tram networks and hundreds of bus lines, all on the same ticket.

Tickets and prices

The official WTP tariff lists three time-based tickets that cover almost every visitor's needs:

  • 20-minute ticket: 3.40 zł (1.70 zł reduced) - unlimited journeys for up to 20 minutes from validation.
  • 75-minute ticket: 4.40 zł (2.20 zł reduced) - unlimited journeys for up to 75 minutes, or a single journey to the last stop on the route.
  • 90-minute ticket: 7.00 zł (3.50 zł reduced) - the same, with a 90-minute window.

A 75-minute group ticket costs 22 zł. Longer-term riders can buy 1-day, 3-day, weekend and monthly passes; the full list is on the WTP tariff page.

Validating your ticket

Paper tickets must be validated immediately after boarding a bus or tram. On the metro, validate at the entrance gate before entering the platform - the gates will not open without a validated ticket. Plain-clothes and uniformed inspectors check tickets often, and riding without a validated ticket brings a fine.

Where tickets work

One ZTM ticket covers:

  • the metro (lines M1 and M2),
  • trams and buses across the city,
  • SKM urban trains within the city zone,
  • the RL airport line of Koleje Mazowieckie between Warsaw Płudy and Chopin Airport, per the official tariff.

Tickets are sold at ticket machines at stops and stations (cards accepted), in kiosks, and in the official mobile apps. If you are staying more than a couple of days, a 3-day or weekend ticket usually beats buying singles.
