Muranow keeps its green heart behind a baroque gate. Krasinski Garden is a landscape-style park wrapped around the Krasinski Palace - a north-Italian baroque residence that closes the main visual axis of the garden, its facade reflected in the pond by the historic main gate.
What to look for
According to Warsaw's municipal greenery authority, the garden combines a reconstructed pond with an island, a stone cascade on a hill that is probably a remnant of the 17th-century Sigismund Rampart, and ornamental parterres - including the secluded Radziwill rose garden, a separate parterre of clipped yew hedges with dwarf magnolias that bloom in spring. A water playground by the Duckert Palace nods to the mineral-water institute that once stood there.
Trees with stories
The oldest trees in the garden date to the late 19th century: a ginkgo, a black walnut, a Turkish hazel and an Amur cork tree. A major restoration in 2012-2014 returned the historic layout while adding modern playgrounds and an outdoor gym.
Visiting
Nine entrances lead into the garden, including the historic main gate; the park borders busy Andersa Street on one side. Entry is free. The POLIN Museum stands just across the way, making the garden an easy pause between museums - and its mature canopy earns it a place on our autumn colour list.
