Ask Warsaw residents where they would actually live and Mokotow comes up again and again. The city's own district profile calls it one of the best-known and most prestigious districts, pointing to history reaching back to the 14th century, numerous historic buildings and green areas with ponds and lakes.

Pole Mokotowskie

On the district's northern border spreads Pole Mokotowskie, the park Warsaw calls its Central Park - the largest developed recreational green space in the centre, with a renaturalised lake after its 2023 revitalisation.

Krolikarnia

The Krolikarnia, a classical palace in its own park, holds the sculpture museum of the National Museum in Warsaw - a quiet, elegant counterpoint to the big museums, open until 20:00 on Fridays.

Czerniakowskie Lake

The city's profile singles out Czerniakowskie Lake among the district's green draws - a broad oxbow of the old Vistula course on the eastern edge, beloved by walkers, runners and birdwatchers.
