Warsaw's surroundings reward a spare day. These three trips are all verified with the sites themselves.

Zelazowa Wola: Chopin's birthplace

West of the city at Żelazowa Wola 15 (96-503 Sochaczew), the Birthplace of Fryderyk Chopin and Park in Żelazowa Wola is a branch of the Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw. The manor where Chopin was born stands in a romantic park. Opening hours: Monday the house is closed and only the park is open; the rest of the week, 1 April to 30 September 9:00-19:00, and 1 October to 31 March 9:00-17:00. Pair it with our Chopin in Warsaw guide.

Nieborow and Arkadia

Further west, the Radziwiłł Palace in Nieborów (Aleja Lipowa 35, 99-416 Nieborów) offers baroque aristocratic interiors, while a few kilometres away the Romantic Park in Arkadia lays out an 18th-century English landscape garden dotted with garden architecture - one of the most atmospheric parks in central Poland.

Kampinos National Park

You barely need to leave town: Kampinos National Park begins at the western districts, protecting a vast inland dune forest listed as a UNESCO biosphere reserve.

Planning

Żelazowa Wola and Nieborów/Arkadia are easiest by car or regional bus toward Sochaczew and Łowicz; Kampinos is served by local buses from the city edge. Each fits a half or full day.
